TITLE: Part Time Chef/Sous Chef/Cook
LOCATION: Beaufort Day Care Centre, Company Limited by Guarantee,
Glasthule Road, Glasthule, Co Dublin
REPORTING TO: The Day Care Centre Manager
THE POST:
Beaufort Day Care Centre is currently recruiting for the position of
Chef / Sous Chef / Cook. The person appointed will work as part of the
Beaufort Day Care Centre team to provide nutritious meals to the
people registered in our service. Our aim is to create a positive
experience and atmosphere for our clients in a safe, welcoming
environment and one in which their individual care needs are met. The
candidate will be expected to have excellent communication skills and
the desire to be part of a team with a genuine passion for working for
the elderly and an understanding of the importance of meal preparation
for the older person.
The role of the Chef/Cook is to prepare and deliver meals that are
nutritionally balanced, ensuring strict compliance with HACCP
standards throughout their employment. Efficient coordination and
management of the kitchen is paramount.
BEAUFORT ALSO EXPECTS A STAFF MEMBER TO:
* To build, develop and maintain positive professional relationships
with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
* To support the Day Centre Manager and Board in the development and
implementation of quality systems so that a service of the highest
quality is provided to service users and their families.
* To comply with the Centre?s Health & Safety standards and ensure
that the health and safety of each service user is central to
day-to-day activities.
* To be aware of current responsibilities regarding the safeguarding
of vulnerable adults.
* To adhere to all the Centre?s policies, procedures and working
practices.
* To always maintain a high level of hygiene and cleanliness of day
care setting abiding by core infection prevention and control
measures.
* To attend staff meetings and training as required.
* The person employed will be required to carry out such other
duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Day Centre Manager
or Board of Directors.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
To prepare and deliver meals in house meals and meals on wheels, to
clients of Beaufort Day Care Centre under HACCP guidelines and Food
Safety Regulation.
To ensure the kitchen is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness,
equipment, and environment.
Support the communication of the dietary needs of clients
* Prepare foods in line with dietary needs of clients
* Communicating with Beaufort team members regarding same for
package and delivery of same
* Adhering to HACCP Standards FSAI regulation, Hygiene Procedures
* Regular cleaning of kitchen and equipment
* Stock take and rotation
* Menu planning
* Responsible for food supplies and kitchen sundries and liaising
with Beaufort office in relation to same
* Contacting suppliers to obtain good value and quality for money
* Complete mandatory training
* Advise of any health and safety issues
* Attend team meetings as requested
* Plan and organise special meals for events in the centre
* Report any equipment repairs.
* Communicate effectively with team members
* Communicate effectively with the Day Centre Manager

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* Catering qualification
* Experience working with special dietary requirements.
* Up to date HACCP level 2 training
* Experience preparing meals for the elderly.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
* Experience with elderly, vulnerable or disadvantaged persons
* Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
* Basic IT experience in Microsoft Word and Excel
* An ability to complete online training
* Awareness of the importance of food safety and hygiene for
vulnerable and elderly
* Ability to think outside the box
ADDITIONAL ITEMS THAT WOULD BENEFIT THE CANDIDATE:
* Experience with meals on wheels provision
